Dr. Dana Van Pelt, PT, DPT, MBA, ATCPhysical Therapist
Dana is the founder and owner of the Palm Beach Institute of Sports Medicine, established in 1980. He has degrees from: Ithaca College, Stony Brook University, Nova Southeastern University, and Temple University. These combined clinical and business backgrounds have provided the requisite training and experiences for his management of professional, collegiate, and high school athletic health care programs. His innovative and creative spirit combined with his work beside astute colleagues provides the fabric for all that exists at the Palm Beach Institute of Sports Medicine. Dana actively examines, evaluates, and treats patients. His sub-specialty areas of concentration are orthopedic and sports medicine physical therapy. He and his colleagues take great pride in assisting students in their advancement of higher learning. Dana is a Clinical Instructor for our physical therapy students.
Dr. Matthew Butler, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPTPhysical Therapist
Matt has been a practicing manual physical therapist for over 15 years. He is originally from the Chicago area. In 1997, Matt received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Purdue University. After a brief career in genetics, he went on to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami in 2005. After graduation, Matt worked for a number of years in Pilates-based rehabilitation specializing in spine and sports conditions. Then, in 2010, he completed a Fellowship for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Matt holds certifications in Graston, Strength and Conditioning, Pilates Rehabilitation as well as manual therapy. Matt and his family are happy once again to call South Florida home.
Dr. Keely Brown, PT, DPTPhysical Therapist
Keely is originally from Greenville, South Carolina and completed her undergraduate work at Clemson University with a degree in Health Education and Promotion. She grew up playing soccer and after several injuries of her own decided to enter the field of physical therapy. Following graduation she went on to pursue her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. Since graduating in 2009, she has gained experience and knowledge working in orthopedic, neurological and sports medicine settings in both inpatient and outpatient facilities.
Dr. Jenna Platt, PT, DPTPhysical Therapist
Dr. Jenna Platt completed her undergraduate and graduate work at Florida International University getting her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2011. Over the last 9 years, she has worked and gained experience in outpatient physical therapy clinics treating patients of all ages and skill levels including professional athletes in orthopedics, balance and gait dysfunction, neurological rehabilitation, sports medicine and manual therapy. Additionally, Jenna has received specialized training in Graston, Manual Therapy Technique, Temporomandibular (Jaw) Dysfunction, Pilates, Redcord-Neurac and Active/Active Advanced Corrective Exercise. She is a certified Kinesiotaping practitioner, Titleist TPI certified and a Graston provider. Jenna was born and raised in Hollywood, FL. She grew up playing tennis and volleyball and has continued to lead an active lifestyle working out, doing anything outdoors such as paddle boarding and kayaking, beach volleyball, hiking and traveling.
Dr. Jordan Robbins, PT, DPT, MTCPhysical Therapist
Jordan is a native Floridian. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology, from the University of Florida; a Masters Degree in Movement Science, with a focus in Biomechanics and Exercise Psychology, from Barry University; and a Doctor in Physical Therapy, from the University of St. Augustine. Jordan has been practicing in outpatient physical therapy for many years, gaining knowledge and experience helping patients of all ages and at all skill levels in orthopedics, sports medicine and neurological conditions. She holds a certification in Manual Therapy and has specialized training in Pose Running, Graston and Rocktape. Jordan continues to further her education by working towards her Orthopedic Specialist Certification. Growing up as an athlete, Jordan played competitive volleyball, tennis and softball. She continues living an active lifestyle, working out and participating in outdoor activities including, running, tennis, paddle boarding and hiking. In her free time, Jordan enjoys spending quality time with her family and traveling.
Dr. Melissa Clarke, PT, DPTPhysical Therapist
Melissa completed her undergraduate and graduate education from the University of Florida (UF), receiving her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2018. Since graduation, she has gained experience working primarily in orthopedic outpatient settings. Her passion for learning and desire to help people improve their quality of life led her to consider a physical therapy residency program. Immediately following graduation from UF Melissa moved to Houston, Texas to participate in the Harris Health System Orthopedic Residency Program in which she had the opportunity to treat medically complex patients with orthopedic and/or chronic health conditions. Melissa is presently working on becoming an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and seeking opportunities to further expand her manual therapy skills. Outside of work, you can find her trying different coffee shops in the area, adding to her collection of unique mugs, and spending time with her family and friends.
Dr. Stephanie Fried, PT, DPTPhysical Therapist
Stephanie is originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where she lived for over 19 years. Her education includes a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Kansas, and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Temple University. Since graduating she has gained experience and knowledge working in orthopedic, and neurological outpatient facilities. Stephanie is a certified Vestibular Therapist through the American Institute of Balance and specializes in peripheral vestibular disorders such as Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), and Vestibular hypofunction. She grew up playing basketball and swimming, and on her free time enjoys spending time with her family, working out, cheering on the Kansas Jayhawks, traveling, and playing with her Labradoodle, Gus.
Dr. Paula Gomes, PT, DPT, CSCSPhysical Therapist
Paula is an enthusiastic, passionate physical therapist with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Florida. She is a native of São Paulo, Brazil but has resided in South Florida for over twenty years. Paula has always enjoyed and lived by an active lifestyle involving health, wellness and sports which was a natural draw to her career and degree in physical therapy. Paula's experience is vast and she prides herself in her depth of knowledge and skill set in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation. Paula works tirelessly ensuring her patients not only return to doing what they love, but have a safer approach to any and all physical efforts. Paula is a true sports fan and in her free time enjoys playing tennis, snowboarding, and strength training. She is an avid fan of the local Florida sports teams and loves cheering on her Florida Gators.
Linda Smiciklas, OTR/L, CHTPhysical Therapist
Linda Drury Smiciklas has been a resident of South Florida for over 50 years and the past 27 years she has been practicing as an Occupational Therapist. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Occupational Therapy at Florida International University, in Miami, FL., in 1984 and continued her training by obtaining her Hand Therapy certification in 1991. She is experienced in the treatment of a variety of diagnoses, including but not limited to carpal tunnel syndrome, and other compression syndromes, arthritis, cumulative disorders (tennis elbow), DeQuervains and many other forms of tendonitis/tendinopathy, tendon and nerve injuries, fractures, Dupuytrens ligament injuries, CRPS, shoulder injuries and wound care. All conditions can be managed pre or post operatively and she is able to custom fabricate any splint that is required. Linda continues to broaden her vast knowledge and love of her profession and specialty by attending regular seminars for continuing education. In addition to her experience as an Occupational and Hand Therapist, she is also a personal trainer through NSCA and is working to obtain her CSCS.
Kathryn Sadler, MS, OTR/LOccupational Therapist
Kathryn Sadler is a registered and licensed occupational therapist. Originally from Seattle, Washington, she has called South Florida home for the past 20 years. She graduated cum laude from FAU with a degree in anthropology and received her Masters degree in occupational therapy in 2012. Since then she has worked exclusively in outpatient hand therapy clinics and orthopedic physicians offices and plans on becoming board certified in hand therapy. Her passion is using a holistic approach in helping clients fully recover and return to their activities of daily living.
