Dr. Dana Van Pelt, PT, DPT, MBA, ATC, LATPhysical Therapist
Dana is the founder and owner of the Palm Beach Institute of Sports Medicine, established in 1980. He has degrees from: Ithaca College, Stony Brook University, Nova Southeastern University, and Temple University. These combined clinical and business backgrounds have provided the requisite training and experiences for his management of professional, collegiate, and high school athletic health care programs. His innovative and creative spirit combined with his work beside astute colleagues provides the fabric for all that exists at the Palm Beach Institute of Sports Medicine. Dana actively examines, evaluates, and treats patients. His sub-specialty areas of concentration are orthopedic and sports medicine physical therapy. He and his colleagues take great pride in assisting students in their advancement of higher learning. Dana is a Clinical Instructor for our physical therapy students.
Jackie L Burton, BS BA, MPT, LSVT BIGPhysical Therapist
Jackie has been practicing physical therapy since 1997. She holds a BS in Business/Management from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She worked for Dole Fresh Fruit Co as Manager of Sales Analysis and Administration until Dole relocated to California. She then went back to school and obtained a Masters of Physical Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. She started her physical therapy career with Bethesda Memorial Hospital in the outpatient physical therapy setting treating mostly orthopedic injuries in addition to other pathological issues. She participated in the Diabetes Association, Parkinson’s Group Meetings and exercise classes, and shadowed doctor rounds for wound treatment in an outpatient setting. She was responsible for the establishment of the Bethesda Outpatient Land and Aquatic Therapy facility in the Boca YMCA. She was the Team Leader there and responsible for running daily operations (land and aquatic physical therapy) for this office in addition to the budgets and ordering the necessary equipment as needed. She has recently received her LSVT BIG certification. In her spare time, Jackie is an avid work out fanatic – she enjoys hiking, swimming, biking, and working out in the gym.
Nancy Koiles, PTPhysical Therapist
Nancy is originally from Massachusetts and has been living in Florida since 1991. Her education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training and Cardiovascular health and fitness from Northeastern University in 1990, an Associates Degree as a Physical therapist assistant in 1995 and a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine in 2000. She has gained knowledge and experience while working in outpatient and hospital settings as well as in home health care. She has worked with patients of all ages and diagnoses including orthopedic injuries, neurological disorders and balance and vestibular dysfunction.
